The Last Of Us - Review
by Unknown - 0

So the time finally came and i replaced my aged and now deceased PS3 with a PS4 its taken me a while to get to this point but I'm glad i waited. The first game i played was The Last Of Us: Remastered edition, and boy i wasn't expecting this at all.

Firstly, ill give you a brief idea of what the story is about. The game is set 20 years after an apocalyptic event infection almost wipes humanity as we know it. You play as Joel, who is tasked with escorting the feisty Ellie who is immune to the infection across the now
apocalypse ridden United States in a last ditch hope of creating a cure for the infection.

You make your way through the now defunct streets of some of the USA's popular cities, fighting against infected humans, or violent and hostile humans who will do all they can to stop you.
So with that in your mind you would think this would end up being a stroll in the park right? You would be wrong to even think so. This game is by no means a stroll in the park, it will have you jumping without warning and have you running for cover many many times, not only that but you will get your face eaten by a Clicker multiple times, what's a Clicker you say? Sorry, not telling, you can find that out for yourself.
Side by side comparison of the PS3 and PS4 graphicsThere is no wonder why this game has received such critical acclaim. This was actually released for the PS3 initially and was then rebooted for the PS4 hence the Remastered in the title, and you could tell instantly that this was vastly improved from the PS3.
The graphics are almost life like, smooth and full of detail. Each cut scene feels like you are actually there in the game yourself.
The gameplay hasn't had any major changes, it is still a Third Person Shooter and is an Action Adventure Survival Horror game. It involves gunfights, melee combat and a very fluid cover system. Using the DualShock 4 players can now navigate the menu with the controllers touchpad and can now listen to recordings via the controllers speaker. The DualShock 4’s light bar is also interactive with the game and displays your health going from green to amber to red when taking damage.
Reading up on some other reviews i have to agree with the review on Metacritic which uses a standard scoring system of 0-100. Metacritic calculated a 95 out of 100 review and indicating “universal acclaim” based on around 69 critics. GameRankings scored the game at 96% based on 43 reviews. The Last Of Us Remastered would go on to become one of the PS4’s best selling games and by August 2014 it had shifted 1 Million copies.
Overall, i can see why this game is so popular, its smooth, fluid and highly immersive and will have you literally playing the game for hours on end. Once you start its hard to stop playing this game and stopping abruptly will give you cravings to get back into the action within hours.
By far an incredible re-launch of a popular game for the PS4, with minor tweaks and some great additions this game looks set to be in the top ten of must have games for a long time to come.
GamezAddict Score – 10/10
